Ajabu, Naivasha

Ajabu House on the shores of Lake Naivasha is just 2 hours away from Nairobi and is one of the most spectacular properties in East Africa. This amazing house is set in beautiful gardens and surrounded by huge fig trees, and multiple seating areas let you make the most of the scenery and listen to fish eagles providing Africa’s classic soundtrack. The house has 8 bedrooms and can easily accommodate a group of up to 16.

Even though it is over 100 years old, the house has been finished and decorated to perfection, with an amazing team of house help and a chef. Ajabu offers fishing, waterskiing and wake-boarding opportunities, though the house does provide equipment, so you can either bring your own or we can provide contacts for local companies that can help. Great Rift Valley Golf course is nearby, and both Nakuru and Longonot National Parks are accessible from the house, as well as the many attractions around Lake Naivasha. Or, if staying closer to home is more your thing, just enjoy the hospitality and take it easy, or have a family tournament on Ajabu’s tennis court? Ajabu obviously offers a great deal, making it very popular, so please book as early as you can and don’t miss out.

If you don’t know what happens in Naivasha, you’re missing one of Kenya’s highlights. On the south of Lake Naivasha, you can go horse riding or boating, or venture into Hells Gate National Park and go rock climbing, hiking and cycling. For the super fit, why not take on the climb up Mount Longonot or (for the less fit) go walking on the Crescent Island Conservancy? Alternatively, set the pace a little slower and take the family out to lunch under huge acacia trees at Carnelley’s or The Ranch House Bistro. On the north side of the lake, the Great Rift Valley Club provides golf, tennis and swimming facilities. Once you’re in the area, it’s a short run-up to Elementaita Conservancy and Nakuru National Park. Altogether, Naivasha offers a great collection of activities for everyone, and we have a great collection of houses to make your stay memorable.
