Binsimba House, Naivasha

Available for YOUR April holidays

Binsimba House lies on the shore of Crater Lake, in a conservancy bordering Lake Naivasha. The house has been a favourite for our clients for a long time and we believe that’s due to Binsimba’s stand-out character. This is an upside-down house, with the entranceway leading into the open, airy kitchen on the upper level, or via the veranda into the living room/dining room. The huge roof makes it a very cool house. Heading down the heavy wooden stairs takes you to the tastefully decorated bedrooms (3 doubles and a kids’ room with two sets of bunk beds) and four bathrooms (one en suite to a double, the rest standalone).

The house is very well finished with comfy sofas, a fully equipped kitchen and a great team of staff to help (but no chef). We have had reports of water smelling a bit at Binsimba; this is the nature of the house borehole and is nothing to be concerned about as sulphur and other minerals are a feature of the volcanic activity that shaped the crater lake. Once you’re in Binsimba, it really is a case of taking it easy, enjoying stunning views from the veranda, walking down to the lake and enjoying the rolling lawn. It really is the perfect place for the family, with complete privacy and time to unwind.

If you don’t know what happens in Naivasha, you’re missing one of Kenya’s highlights. On the south of Lake Naivasha, you can go horse riding or boating, or venture into Hells Gate National Park and go rock climbing, hiking and cycling. For the super fit, why not take on the climb up Mount Longonot or (for the less fit) go walking on the Crescent Island Conservancy? Alternatively, set the pace a little slower and take the family out to lunch under huge acacia trees at Carnelley’s or The Ranch House Bistro. On the north side of the lake, the Great Rift Valley Club provides golf, tennis and swimming facilities. Once you’re in the area, it’s a short run-up to Elementaita Conservancy and Nakuru National Park. Altogether, Naivasha offers a great collection of activities for everyone, and we have a great collection of houses to make your stay memorable.
