Ecoscapes House, Naivasha
About Ecoscapes House
Ecoscapes House is located on the far western shore of Lake Naivasha near Crater Lake on the edge of Korongo Bay. The house is set within a lovely garden, overlooking our private game sanctuary and swimming pool. The sanctuary is teaming with a wide variety of wildlife. The house is a short walk/drive away from the Korongo Bay where we have our own jetty. You can book boat rides with a local operator.
Downstairs there is an open plan cozy sitting room with a fireplace and a dining area overlooking the garden. The comfortable veranda overlooks the garden, swimming pool and game sanctuary. The kitchen is located at the back of the house. There is a stand alone guest loo and a spacious double bed room with ensuite bathroom also on the ground floor. Upstairs there are two large rooms, one with a double bed, the other with 2 single beds. There is also a smaller room with 2 single beds. There is one bathroom upstairs.
The house has a pool and children’s playground close to the veranda so supervision is easy. There is a BBQ, pizza oven and fire pit so that families can enjoy fun culinary experiences together outdoors. We offer horse riding and provide kids bikes for cycling around the farm. Kids love to visit the stables to pet the cows and horses and feed the chickens. Guided walks through our 80 acre wildlife sanctuary are an incredible experience with close encounters with a myriad of wildlife such as giraffe, water buck, impala, warthogs, eland and dikdik. You may also encounter buffalo and hippo which is why you can only walk in the sanctuary if accompanied by one of our experienced guides. The house is located within an electric fence to keep out the dangerous wildlife while providing a secure environment for guests. Guests can walk freely around the organic market garden and guided tours are available upon request. You can order our certified organic produce to eat during your stay. (Charges for activities are available upon request)
Lake Naivasha, in the heart of the Great Rift Valley, is renowned for its spectacular bird life with over 350 different species. Being a fresh water lake it is ideal for a range of water sports from fishing to water skiing. Other attractions include climbing Mt. Longonot, Golfing at the Great Rift Valley Lodge, game viewing and rock climbing in Hell’s gate, viewing flamingoes on the nearby Oloidien and Crater Lakes, visiting show case flower farms and the geothermal plant at Ol Karia. You can take boat cruises around the lake bird and hippo watching from our jetty or walk amongst the game on our own private game sanctuary. Your days can be as action packed or as relaxing as you want them to be.
The lake has a surface area of 139 square kilometers and an average depth of 6 meters. It is stocked with black bass , tilapia and carp and there is a thriving fishing
industry around the lake. The lake is at the highest elevation of the Kenya Rift Valley at 1890 meters (6200 feet) so the days are warm and the nights are pleasantly chilly.
The house is approximately two and a half hours drive from Nairobi, 45 minutes from the Moi South Lake turn off or the Moi North Lake Road. Please be advised
that the last 6-8km of road, either way, after the tarmac ends is a dirt road which requires a car with good clearance as it's currently in bad condition. We have a private airstrip which guests can use. There is a shop and restaurant 8km away at Kongoni. Ecoscapes comes with 2 house staff who clean the house and one of them can do basic cooking. If guests want a more experienced chef we charge a fee of Ksh 5,500 per night.
