Makutano, Nanyuki

Nestled on the same estate as Mukima House is the delectable Makutano House. This wonderful family cottage has two and a half bedrooms and works perfectly either for your next trip away from the hustle and bustle or as a great stopover for heading up North into Laikipia. The house has a lovely dining / sitting room, fully equipped kitchen and large veranda with views of Mount Kenya. There is a twin kids room connected to the master bedroom and separate family bedroom.

Makutano offers more than just great accommodation though. What about playing tennis or badminton on the murram and grass courts respectively, taking a boat ride and doing some fishing on the lake? How about heading down one of two nature trails or going on a donkey ride? For the more adventurous in the group, Mount Kenya is literally on your doorstep, Ol Pejeta not far away, or you can swing the golf clubs at Nanyuki Sports Club. The makings of a perfect retreat? We think so.

Known as the gateway to the north, Nanyuki is ideally located for you to access the wonders of Laikipia, Shaba and Samburu. Nanyuki also offers a close base to explore the world-famous Ol Pejeta wildlife conservancy, to experience the Northern White Rhinos, chimpanzees of Sweetwaters Sanctuary, and the other abundant wildlife at one of Kenya’s foremost conservation zones. If you’re looking for more adventure, why not head into the forests around Mount Kenya and the Aberdare National Park and get lost in the forest trails and spot rhinos and giant forest hogs, or experience some of the best fly fishing in the country on Mount Kenya’s lakes or the rivers of the Aberdares. Or simply load the car with a few friends, or the family, and just take the weekend for yourself? Whatever your Nanyuki adventure is, we have a base for you.
