Watamu/Malindi Collection
In bustling Watamu the question is more what can’t you do from your doorstep? The KWS marine park that stretches the length of Watamu beach offers snorkelling, kite surfing and stand-up paddleboarding, or you can visit the amazing team at Local Ocean Conservation Trust to find out how they are protecting turtles, or check out the whale shark migration. On land, it’s a short hop to the amazing Gede ruins, or learn more about smaller spectacular members of Kenya’s wildlife at Mida Creek, Butterfly Farm or BioKen Snake Centre, both hubs of conservation excellence. A short drive away, Arabuko Sokoke Forest is home to amazing birdlife and some secretive elephants. Keep yourself fortified with endless meal options at Pili Pan, Medina Palms, Ocean Sports or the Crab Shack. If you fancy yourself as a serious fisherman, or you want to learn, Ocean Sports has some of the best deep-sea fishing boats on the coast.
