Jahazi House, Watamu: 12 Guests
Jahazi is a spacious holiday home with a large entrance/reception/sitting area opening out to a covered terrace and large swimming pool with deck, deckchairs and loungers. The gardens are spacious and beautifully landscaped. There is a freestanding barbecue and shaded area for outdoor eating & entertaining near to the pool on the lawns. There is a master suite upstairs as well as two twin guest bedrooms and a further double bedroom, all ensuite. Downstairs is a kid’s room / TV room and a twin en suite bedroom with air-conditioning and a fully equipped kitchen, including a chef. On the top level of the house, there is a rooftop terrace and viewpoint overlooking the creek and mangrove forest. Externally there is a double carport (with table tennis table set up for guests on one side) and ample car parking space. The final cherry at Jahazi is a wood decked walkway through the mangroves to a covered ‘cabana’ and deck and stairs straight into the water, how ideal!
In bustling Watamu the question is more what can’t you do from your doorstep? The KWS marine park that stretches the length of Watamu beach offers snorkelling, kite surfing and stand-up paddleboarding, or you can visit the amazing team at Local Ocean Conservation Trust to find out how they are protecting turtles or check out the whale shark migration. On land, it’s a short hop to the amazing Gede ruins, or learn more about smaller spectacular members of Kenya’s wildlife at Mida Creek, Butterfly Farm or BioKen Snake Centre, both hubs of conservation excellence. A short drive away, Arabuko Sokoke Forest is home to the amazing birdlife and some secretive elephants. Keep yourself fortified with endless meal options at Pili Pan, Medina Palms, Ocean Sports or the Crab Shack. If you fancy yourself as a serious fisherman, or you want to learn, Ocean Sports has some of the best deep-sea fishing boats on the coast. Malindi is half an hour away from Watamu, with stunning shopping and restaurants in the town, as well as the Driftwood Club. Whatever your coastal dream, we have a house for you.
